July 04, 2026 @23:47 Links Posted to Thoughts (https://www.going-flying.com/thoughts/) The Week of 06-28-2026 There were 6 links posted this week. 07/03/2026 @19:45 Returnal - Penny Arcade (https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2026/07/03/returnal-3?ref=going-flying.com) Gabe: First they got rid of manuals, and now there's no disc?I'm just buying an empty box? [...] Tycho: [...] When this shit started, you didn't own the machine at all. [...] They've been chasing that high ever since. Spit truth, boys. 07/02/2026 @10:30 Inside the Luddite Festival Harnessing Gen Z’s Rage Against Big Tech | WIRED (https://www.wired.com/story/inside-the-luddite-festival-harnessing-gen-zs-rage-against-big-tech/?ref=going-flying.com) [...] one of the opening events of the Summer of Ludd, a weeklong series of talks and activities like how to flirt and date offline, mending, and learning to fight against data centers, all focused on getting people off their phones and into community. Everything is so evidently handcrafted, giving it the energy of a high school production (complimentary). A small orchestra, manned by people dressed in Pride regalia, sits off to one side. Behind them, a table holds 10 different zines covering everything from how to get off Spotify to the role of surveillance technology in schools to “Why GenAI Sucks.” This is so delightful to see. I'm glad it exists and it gives me some hope for the future. While consumer sentiment won't fix the problems we've created, it has been moving the Overton window in a useful direction — a fact that my curmudgeonly non-social-media-having self is enjoying. 07/02/2026 @09:51 Sony Will Stop Making Video Game Discs (https://aftermath.site/sony-discs-2028-consoles/?ref=going-flying.com) Sony will stop making discs for new PlayStation games in 2028, the company announced Wednesday morning and GameFile first reported. The change will affect both first and third-party games. This was honestly inevitable. It fucking sucks though. Much like everything else digital these days it's all a nightmare of "why sell you something when we can let you buy it over and over again forever." 07/01/2026 @00:04 06/28/2026 @22:13 Post by @edzitron.com — Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:qc6xzgctorfsm35w6i3vdebx/post/3mpf3wgqtqs2v?ref=going-flying.com) Van Horn is one of many founders whose work has been transformed by Al. As he builds his latest company, he's used AI agents to help contribute to hundreds of projects on GitHub. But he and many other Al evangelists are also working longer hours than ever before as they grapple with anxieties about how Al might advance without them if they log off. I'm sure his company is breaking new, uncharted ground and disrupting entire... nothings. What a completely useless person being objectified as propaganda for a completely empty industry. Liar bot FOMO might be the most compelling reason to advocate for accelerating the heat death of the universe I've ever heard. 06/28/2026 @18:30 Footer These are just the posts from the last week that looked like link share posts.
