Jennifer Ramirez-Betancur’s Post https://de.linkedin.com/in/jennifer-ramirez-betancur?trk=public_post_feed-actor-image 5d This month I attended XML Prague (https://cz.linkedin.com/company/xml-prague?trk=public_post-text) for the first time - and hopefully not the last! I had the pleasure of presenting my talk ‘Learning XQuery One Dish at a Time’ during the XQuery and XML Databases session organized by Evolved Binary (https://uk.linkedin.com/company/evolvedbinary?trk=public_post-text). My talk was a reflection on my experience learning XQuery, specifically building applications using XQuery in Elemental. I built an application that allows you to browse, search, and navigate different recipes stored in XML. The primary purpose being that the user can select all the ingredients currently in their fridge and then is recommended recipes based what they already have in their kitchen. One of my key points highlighted that junior developers should take the time to learn the theory and concepts behind the language before the syntax. Asking questions like ‘what does this language solve?’ And ‘why does it solve it better than the alternatives?’. I spent a while writing XQuery before I actually understood what it was for, and once I did, all the pieces came together. If you are interested in viewing my presentation, the slides are available online and the video is on its wayhttps://lnkd.in/dM_2EXD7 Thank you to the conference organizers and to Evolved Binary for giving early career professionals a space to speak. I am looking forward to finishing up my app and sharing it for others to use!🥳 See more comments (https://www.linkedin.com/signup/cold-join?session_redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Elinkedin%2Ecom%2Fposts%2Fjennifer-ramirez-betancur_this-month-i-attended-xml-prague-for-the-activity-7472908836539138048-yLHj&trk=public_post_see-more-comments) Explore content categories
